Rioverde is located 190 km from the capital of the state of San Luis Potosi. It is a peaceful community founded in 1617 by native Indians that left the village of El Palmar to move out to this place rich in waterfalls and water resources. According to official sources, the name was suggested by an antique character called Xicachalchimitl, a descendent Indian from the Texcoco kings.
Among the important events that took place in this community, it stands out the defeat of the Carranza army by the Zapata army leader Horacio Lucero in 1917. Up to these days the village history still can be seen throughout its streets and temples, which mean a cultural treasure that wish to be shared to the community. Its waterfalls and rivers are attractions to any tourist as well.
Mining, agriculture and animal farming make this destination grow constantly and that the community wishes to promote its land and water resources for the national and foreign visitor.
